4-5 year olds
Our topic this half term is ‘Tell Us a Story’.
We will be diving into the fantasy world of traditional tales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs and other well-known classics. We will get to know the characters and the tales within the stories, discovering new adventures. We will also be telling our own stories and using puppets to re-tell stories. As well as this, we will be exploring adaptations of traditional tales and thinking about how they are different to the original.
The children’s personal, social and emotional development will be enhanced throughout as we get to know the characters and their feelings in the stories. We will also have a weekly circle time where we are building our self-confidence by talking about our similarities and differences and how we are proud of what we can do.
To develop our communication and language skills, we will be looking at the stories in more detail by discussing the vocabulary and the images within. We will carry on practising our skills in recognising numbers to 20 and reading and writing using our phonic scheme and pre-cursive handwriting.
Every Thursday afternoon is Forest School and we love it! With summer approaching we are looking forward to the warmer weather and the changes that will bring to the forest.
