4-5 year olds

Welcome!
This term in Reception, we will be looking at Dinosaurs, discovering more about where they lived and what they ate. Our texts are fiction and non-fiction based where we will learn facts about each species of dinosaurs. For writing, we will be practising to write captions by describing the different features of the dinosaurs. We will image a dinosaur coming to school and from this the children will start to write simple sentences be using our imagination by imagining a dinosaur coming into school from this the children will be introduced to starting to write simple sentences. In reading, we will carry on with our Read Write Inc scheme where the children will be getting to know tricky words and reading words which help to form sentences. In maths, we will be going up to 10 and beyond. We will have a deeper knowledge of numbers up to 10 and numerical patterns, recognising one more and one less of a number. In other areas such as science we will be looking at the differences between animals and humans especially bones and teeth. In art, we will be exploring the artist Kandinsky and how he used lines, colours, and geometric shapes to construct his work.
P.E will be on a Friday and Forest school will be on a Wednesday. Please ensure your child comes in the correct uniform for each session. Please make sure you are signed up to Tapestry for challenges and updates for Ash class.
